Four Young Israelis Killed in Six Months Amid Rising Youth Violence

The story · English

In the past six months, Israel has witnessed a tragic surge in deadly violence claiming the lives of four young men: Dastao Tskol, Yamno Zalka, Benyahu Razi, and Eldar Dayan. Each victim was at the start of their adult lives when their futures were abruptly ended by brutal attacks.

Dastao Tskol, 19, was fatally stabbed near his home in Beersheba on April 24, just before his scheduled military enlistment. Four teenagers have been indicted in connection with his murder. Yamno Benjamin Zalka, 21, was killed during a violent confrontation in Petah Tikva on Israel’s Independence Day, after being stabbed in an altercation involving a group of youths. Several suspects, mostly minors, have been charged.

In July, Benyahu Razi, 19, from Givat Ze'ev, was stabbed to death in a rented apartment in Jerusalem’s Nahalat neighborhood. The investigation revealed that Razi had previously sought protection from threats by a former partner, and indictments have been filed against multiple suspects, including his current partner Agam Sarfi.

The case of Eldar Dayan, 23, from Dimona, began as a missing person investigation but evolved into a criminal inquiry after his body was found. Authorities suspect foul play, and several arrests have been made. These incidents highlight a disturbing trend of escalating youth violence in Israel, raising urgent questions about law enforcement effectiveness, deterrence, and societal factors. Despite the gravity of these crimes, no comprehensive plan currently exists to halt this wave of brutality.

The families of the victims are left grappling with shattered dreams and unanswered questions, underscoring the human cost behind the statistics of crime and prosecution.
