Israeli Singer Akiva Natan Releases New Song Inspired by Elul Dawn in Mitzpe Ramon

The story · English

Israeli singer and songwriter Akiva Natan has released a new song titled "Winds of Elul," inspired by a transformative moment he experienced at dawn in Mitzpe Ramon. The song was born just before sunrise, capturing the spiritual atmosphere of the month of Elul, a time of mercy and forgiveness in the Jewish calendar. Natan described the moment as a fragile and pure space between night and day, where he felt deeply connected to the "morning stars" and the natural world around the Ramon Crater.

He recounted that during this sunrise, which he said changed his life, he heard the birds singing and for the first time truly said "yes", a response to the hidden melodies, creativity, and a unique soul journey into the unknown. The lyrics, melody, vocals, and arrangement were all created by Natan himself, while the musical production, guitars, and mixing were handled by Itamar Levi. The recording also features David Dagmi on percussion, Daniel Avarin on double bass, Lihua Baniel on flute, and Shani Broner on glockenspiel.

Natan emphasized that encountering the "morning stars" singing before dawn offers a taste of Elul every day of the year, reflecting the song's spiritual and emotional depth. The song's creation took place "on the edge of the abyss" above the Ramon Crater, symbolizing a leap into the unknown and a profound artistic awakening.
