IDF Detains Three Israelis After Crossing Into Syrian Territory Near Mount Hermon

On the night between Monday and Tuesday, three Israeli civilians crossed the border into Syrian territory near Mount Hermon. An Israel Defense Forces (IDF) unit quickly responded, located the individuals, and returned them to Israeli soil. Following their return, the civilians were handed over to the Israeli police for further processing. The IDF strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a serious disruption to operational activities and a danger to the security of IDF forces operating in the area. They called on law enforcement to take strict action against those involved to prevent repeat offenses, which constitute a criminal act.

This event is the latest in a series of border crossings by activists from the "Pioneers of Bashan" group into Syria over recent weeks. Lieutenant Colonel D., commander of three out of nine IDF posts in Syrian territory, described the individuals as "troublemaking youths trying to cause a scene," which interferes with the IDF's defensive operations. He emphasized the desire to operate without such disturbances in the area.
