Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis Steal the Show at Trooping the Colour

The British royal family marked the king’s official birthday in June at the annual Trooping the Colour parade in London, with King Charles and Queen Camilla leading from a ceremonial carriage. Catherine, Princess of Wales, rode in a separate carriage with her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, while Prince William, the heir to the throne, rode on horseback in keeping with tradition.

Much of the attention centered on the children, especially 8-year-old Prince Louis, whose playful expressions again drew cameras and amused viewers. The princes and princesses posted a video from the event, prompting praise online such as, “What a beautiful family,” “This is the king we are all waiting for,” and “The future of the royal family.” One admirer also wrote, “A wonderful family, Princess Diana could be proud.”

The parade took place against the backdrop of renewed scrutiny over Prince Andrew, formerly Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, amid the Epstein affair and an ongoing inquiry into the extent of his crimes. Despite the controversy, he was not invited to the celebration. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were also absent, and their last appearance at the event was in 2022, during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, when they did not march with the rest of the royals.

Princess Anne also took part, alongside Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
