New Generation of Combat Engineering Soldiers Begins Service Amid Ongoing Conflict

On Tuesday, new recruits to the Israel Defense Forces' Combat Engineering Corps expressed strong motivation and a sense of mission as they prepared to begin their military service. In an interview on the 'Israel Morning' program, reporter Eti Shalev spoke with the fresh soldiers about their reasons for choosing combat roles and their expectations for the challenging training ahead.

Liam, one of the new recruits, shared his excitement about donning the uniform for the first time, describing his enlistment as a significant mission, especially in light of the current security situation. He said the ongoing war directly influenced his decision to serve in a combat capacity. Another recruit, Itai, explained his choice of the Engineering Corps, emphasizing its unique role in handling explosives and being at the forefront to enable other units to advance safely. He stressed the importance of combat service for their generation and expressed a desire to contribute significantly to the country.

Regarding the demanding service, Itai acknowledged the difficulties ahead but affirmed his goal to become the best soldier possible and to give the IDF everything he can. He also mentioned considering pursuing an officer's path in the future. Family members accompanied the recruits, offering blessings for their success and safe return. After the interviews and farewells, the recruits boarded buses to their training base to begin their preparation as combat engineers.
