Nof Ginosar's New Hotel Revives Tourism with Stunning Sea of Galilee Views
The Nof Ginosar David Resort, located near the historic Christian site of Capernaum on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee, has emerged as a surprising new attraction despite opening during a challenging period for northern Israel. The hotel launched about three years ago, just before a series of regional conflicts and security issues forced multiple closures and reopenings. Now, it is finally establishing itself as a destination that highlights the natural beauty of the Sea of Galilee rather than relying on flashy decor.
The hotel’s design emphasizes natural materials and expansive glass walls that offer panoramic views of the lake from nearly every angle, creating a seamless connection with the surrounding landscape. It features 276 rooms, including family suites and a dedicated couples’ floor with jacuzzis overlooking the water. Amenities include an infinity pool, a spa with personalized treatments, and a restaurant serving Israeli and Mediterranean cuisine under kosher certification.
Beyond accommodation, Nof Ginosar aims to be a cultural hub with an 800-seat amphitheater hosting concerts by prominent Israeli artists like Idan Raichel and Hatikva 6. The hotel also organizes retreats and events, such as the recent REWIRE weekend featuring lectures by cardiologist Dr. Nader Butto and behavioral economist Prof. Dan Ariely, blending relaxation with intellectual engagement.
CEO Itay Eshel explained that the hotel initially targeted international tourists but shifted focus to Israeli visitors due to the pandemic and regional instability. The property was built on land purchased from the local church and plans to expand similar ventures to Jerusalem. Prices start at 1,790 shekels per night for a couple with breakfast, with family options available.
