Jerusalem Opens 'Heichalot' Exhibition Showcasing Jewish Heritage Treasures

The story · English

After months of preparation, the large-scale Jewish heritage exhibition "Heichalot" opens today at Binyanei HaUma in Jerusalem. The exhibition, led by Jewish heritage researcher Rabbi Yehuda Leib Breier, features rare manuscripts, ancient books, sacred objects, original documents, and personal items collected from private safes, family homes, and archives, many never before publicly displayed.

The venue is divided into seven thematic halls covering Hasidism, Torah scholars and yeshivas, Eastern Jewish sages, music, archives and manuscripts, heroic chapters of sacrifice, and Jewish traditions passed through generations. The exhibition is designed as a living museum, combining original artifacts with reconstructions, audiovisual displays, lighting, and interactive elements to immerse visitors in the stories behind each item.

A steering committee oversees the content, and alongside the displays, a series of panels, lectures, and discussions featuring rabbis, researchers, writers, and educators will deepen engagement with Jewish spirituality, Torah, and heritage. Security and preservation measures include climate control, protective vitrines, and over 120 security personnel.

Public interest has been strong, with tens of thousands of tickets sold in advance. Due to high demand, organizers are considering a similar exhibition in the United States in the coming months. The exhibition aims not only to present history but to create an inspiring educational encounter connecting children, yeshiva students, parents, and grandparents to the chain of generations and the treasures of faith, Torah, and Hasidism.
