The Haifa Magistrate's Court extended the detention of Michael Levin, a 48-year-old resident of Kiryat Yam, for three more days following his suspected theft of an ambulance last Wednesday. The ambulance was parked, turned off, and air-conditioned when Levin allegedly entered the vehicle while the driver was briefly away attending to a patient.

According to police, Levin drove the ambulance without a license and while intoxicated. He also reportedly stole money and property from the vehicle, although the stolen items have not yet been recovered. The ambulance was abandoned shortly after near the city's beach area. Levin was identified and apprehended with the help of security cameras and investigators from the Zevulun police station.

During the court hearing, police stated that Levin admitted to driving the ambulance but claimed he moved it because it was obstructing him and other road users. Levin denies involvement in the theft of the cash and property. The incident drew attention due to the unusual nature of stealing an emergency vehicle in broad daylight.

The investigation continues as authorities seek to recover the missing items and determine the full circumstances of the theft and unauthorized use of the ambulance.
