Yariv Levin Appoints Yehuda Avidan as Acting CEO of Chief Rabbinate of Israel

The story · English

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Religious Services Yariv Levin appointed Yehuda Avidan, the current CEO of the Ministry of Religious Services, as the acting CEO of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel on Wednesday evening. The appointment followed consultations with the Civil Service Commissioner and approvals from the Ministry of Justice and the legal departments of both the Chief Rabbinate and the Ministry of Religious Services.

This appointment continues a previous practice where, during periods without a permanent CEO for the Chief Rabbinate, the CEOs of the Ministry of Religious Services serve as acting heads. Avidan brings extensive experience and knowledge in public service, and his entry into the role is seen as an important step for strengthening and advancing the Chief Rabbinate.

Avidan received blessings and support from the Chief Rabbis of Israel, including the Rishon Lezion and President of the Rabbinical High Court, Rabbi David Yosef, as well as the Chief Rabbi of Israel and President of the Chief Rabbinate Council, Rabbi Kalman Bar. Both wished him success in fulfilling his significant public mission for the benefit of religious services and all Israeli citizens.
