Wedding Hall in Rehovot Denies Hosting Same-Sex Weddings Amid Discrimination Claims

An event producer claimed that the Vigo wedding hall in Rehovot refused to host a wedding for a gay couple, citing the venue's policy against such events. According to recordings obtained by N12, a sales agent at the hall told the producer, "We don't accept events like that here, unfortunately," explaining that the hall's owners are ultra-Orthodox and do not want to hold such events. The agent expressed personal sympathy but said the decision was final and requested no leads from the LGBTQ community be sent to them.

The incident began when the producer tried to book a wedding for two men at the hall. After confirming the couple's gender in a WhatsApp group, the producer was told the hall does not accommodate events from the LGBTQ community. When the producer called to understand the refusal, the sales agent reiterated the owners' blanket policy against these events.

In response to the report, Vigo hall denied the allegations, stating they have never refused to host a gay couple's wedding. They added that they have previously held events for the LGBTQ community, including weddings and circumcisions, and noted that just last month they hosted two events for gay couples. The hall emphasized their openness to such events, contradicting the producer's claims.
