Former Israeli Officer Warns US May Seek Iran Regime Collapse This Summer
Retired Lieutenant Colonel Amit Yagur, speaking on Channel 14, suggested that the ongoing leaks and reports about Iran are part of a deliberate information campaign. He believes the Trump administration may have abandoned efforts to bring Iran back to negotiations, instead aiming for a more severe outcome: the collapse of the Iranian regime. Yagur emphasized that the key question is not if the US will take military action, but what its strategic goal is.
Yagur expressed skepticism about current reports, calling them part of a broad propaganda war. He noted that recent statements by President Donald Trump indicate a shift toward harsher measures, reflecting a belief that dialogue with Tehran is futile. Militarily, Yagur pointed to significant US troop concentrations, a renewed naval blockade, and ongoing regional preparations as signs of imminent action.
When asked about the timing of a possible strike, Yagur refrained from a definitive answer but speculated that the US might wait until after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Washington and certain other preparations are complete. He concluded with a stark assessment of Iran's internal situation, stating, "The regime is in a very deep internal crisis that worsens daily. I do not think it will survive the summer."
