Alexander Graf Lambsdorff has officially started his tenure as Germany's ambassador to Israel, succeeding Stefan Seibert who served for four years. Lambsdorff, a seasoned diplomat and politician, previously served as Germany's ambassador to Russia from 2023 to 2026 and was a member of the Bundestag as well as vice president of the European Parliament representing the liberal FDP party. Known for his strong pro-Israel stance and consistent support for a two-state solution, Lambsdorff emphasized his goal to advance the "unprecedented cooperation" between Germany and Israel to a new level.
