Female IDF Officers Train Next Generation of Combat Soldiers Amid Ongoing Conflict

Three young female officers in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have recently completed their company commander courses and are now training the next generation of combat soldiers. Lieutenant S. (23) from Kibbutz Kfar Giladi, who served as an artillery combatant and led the first operational firing of new weaponry in Gaza during the war, now commands an advanced training company. She experienced the evacuation of her hometown early in the conflict and remains committed to service amid ongoing hostilities.

Captain V. (24) from Modi'in enlisted in a combat officer track with the "Lions of the Jordan" unit in November 2021. During her officer training, she was deployed to southern border communities to secure them during the "Sword of Iron" war, conducting house-to-house searches and evacuations. She currently commands a training company and will open a new training cycle next month, emphasizing the importance of continuing recruitment and preparation despite wartime conditions.

Lieutenant A. (23) from Be'er Sheva serves in the Karakal armored infantry unit "Fara". She fought in the October 7 clashes in the Gaza border area and recently returned to command her original company. She supports the integration of women in combat roles, stating that success depends on professional standards and operational readiness rather than gender.

All three officers highlight the significance of female leadership and role models in combat units, stressing that women contribute effectively alongside men. They advocate for evaluation based on capability and readiness, not prejudice, and emphasize the importance of rigorous training and clear standards. Their experiences reflect the IDF's ongoing efforts to integrate women into combat positions while maintaining operational effectiveness during a period of intense conflict.
