Disciplinary Investigation Against Attorney Roy Kahlon Resumes After Yearlong Freeze

The disciplinary investigation into Attorney Roy Kahlon has resumed in recent weeks after being frozen for over a year. The probe, which began more than two and a half years ago following Kahlon's appointment by the Prime Minister as acting State Service Commissioner, centers on allegations that Kahlon inflated his resume. According to a report by Avishai Greenzaig on i24, the Attorney General appointed Haifa District Prosecutor Hila Katz as the lead prosecutor for the investigation several weeks ago, prompting renewed investigative activity. Earlier this week, former acting State Attorney Dan Eldad, who was Kahlon's direct supervisor, testified in the case.

The investigation had been stalled despite requests from both Kahlon and the investigative body to advance the process. The Attorney General's office stated that significant efforts have been made throughout the period, including recent months, to move the case forward. They described the case as "sensitive and complex," noting difficulties in appointing a suitable prosecutor after several senior attorneys declined the role. Eventually, a qualified prosecutor within the State Attorney's Office was assigned. After reviewing the case materials, this prosecutor requested and received approval for additional investigative steps, leading to the summoning of more witnesses for testimony.
