Arab Families End Years-Long Blood Feud with Reconciliation Ceremony in Kafr Qasim
A reconciliation agreement was finalized between the Abu Shaaban family from Lod and the Abu Ghanem family from Ramla during a ceremony held on Monday in Kafr Qasim. This agreement concludes years of violent conflict and prolonged mediation efforts between the two families. The reconciliation process began last Saturday with a public event attended by community leaders and representatives.
According to the report by Yaffa 48, the agreement reflects the active involvement of Arab public figures in preventing bloodshed and promoting peace among rival families. Sheikh Spivak Fraij, leader of the Islamic Movement's southern branch, participated in the ceremony and addressed both families. He noted that many doubted the possibility of ending the long-standing feud and expressed hope that this initiative would also help combat the broader issue of murders within Arab society.
During the event, Fraij led representatives of both families in a joint commitment to cease hostilities, sealed by an oath on the Quran. This formal pledge marks a significant step toward lasting peace between the two clans and serves as a model for conflict resolution in the Arab community in Israel.
