As Rosh Hashanah approaches, flight prices from Israel to popular destinations have sharply increased, with some tickets nearing $1,000. A recent price comparison for flights during the holiday period reveals significant disparities of hundreds of dollars between airlines flying to the same destinations on identical dates. For example, flights to Crete from September 10 to 14 show a $286 difference between El Al at $771 and Arkia at $1,057, a 37% gap. Budapest flights from September 10 to 13 present an even larger gap of $341, with Israir offering tickets at $450 and Arkia charging $791, a 76% difference. Similar price variations appear for Prague and Athens routes, with differences ranging from 34% to 57%.
Israir offers Athens flights for $370 compared to Arkia's $497, while Air Haifa provides an Athens route priced at 1,048 shekels, potentially attractive for travelers from northern Israel. These findings highlight the importance of comparing airline prices during high-demand periods like Rosh Hashanah, as choosing a different carrier can save families hundreds or even thousands of shekels. For families of four, these price gaps can translate into substantial additional costs.
