Former PM Olmert Accuses Netanyahu Government of Fostering Global Hatred Against Israel

Ehud Olmert, former Prime Minister of Israel, sharply criticized the current Netanyahu government, accusing it of being primarily responsible for the rise in global hatred toward Israel. In an interview with Piers Morgan, Olmert claimed that Netanyahu has declared war on the state of Israel, its people, and the foundational values that have defined the country since its establishment, damaging Israel's international reputation.

Olmert described the government as having a fascist, chauvinistic, and extreme character reminiscent of the Ayatollah regime, attributing this to the direct influence and full agreement of Prime Minister Netanyahu. He pointed to inflammatory statements by Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who said "the fate of every Hamas member is death" and that "everyone in Gaza is Hamas," interpreting these remarks as an open call for genocide.

Furthermore, Olmert condemned the actions of settlers in the West Bank, accusing them of committing intolerable and unforgivable acts while the police and military fail to intervene and often actively support them. He emphasized that this occurs under the direct responsibility and protection of the Israeli government. Olmert questioned how anyone outside Israel could view these developments and expressed his personal distress as an Israeli living in the country.
