IDF Faces Harsh Conditions at Northern Lebanon Border Outpost Housing Reservists

A report by Doron Kadush on Galei Tzahal revealed severe sanitary and infrastructure deficiencies at the Tziporen outpost near the Lebanese border, which houses over 100 IDF reservists. Soldiers have documented poor maintenance, including mold on walls, lack of drainage infrastructure, and water accumulation in living areas. A particularly serious incident involved the closure of the outpost’s dining hall after rotten meat, left to decay for months, was discovered, causing a health hazard and foul odor. Consequently, eating activities were moved to another room within the compound. Additionally, a fire broke out in a truck at the outpost entrance, causing damage to parts of the building. Soldiers are forced to sleep in poor conditions amid collapsing infrastructure and a kitchen that fails to meet basic hygiene standards. One commander described the outpost as "unfit for human habitation" and questioned how reservists could be stationed there.

The Galilee Division (Division 91), responsible for the outpost, acknowledged the difficult conditions and is attempting to assist, though the IDF struggles to provide adequate infrastructure. The IDF spokesperson stated that the deficiencies are known and being addressed, with improvements prioritized. Since Thursday, some issues have been rectified, and construction teams continued work last Friday. Measures include cleaning the kitchen, pumping out standing water, and locating and repairing water leaks.
