Couple in Their 70s Embrace City Life with Sea-View Apartment in Tel Aviv

Nurit and Yossi Navon, both over 70, moved from their large family home in Ramat Ef'al to a modern apartment in Tel Aviv to be closer to the sea and cultural activities. After living 30 years in a 500-square-meter house where they raised three daughters, the transition to a 230-square-meter apartment took two years to adjust to. They carefully sorted through decades of belongings, preserving family memories by storing many items in a museum and storage spaces in Herzliya.

Interior designer Tzvia Kazioff helped the couple create a spacious yet intimate home, blending old and new elements while maximizing the limited space in the Tel Aviv tower. The apartment features a glass partition in the master bedroom offering sea views, with electric curtains for privacy. A guest room was designed for their eight grandchildren, encouraging family visits and strengthening bonds.

The apartment’s curved architecture inspired a unique kitchen layout with two work surfaces, and the open-plan living and dining areas flow naturally onto a wraparound balcony with panoramic sea views. The design emphasizes natural materials, warm textures, and art collected over the years, creating a cozy atmosphere despite the large space.

Nurit highlights the social life they enjoy in Tel Aviv, with new friendships and weekly Friday gatherings among peers in their age group, describing their lifestyle as a positive alternative to retirement homes. The move has revitalized their lives, offering convenience, cultural engagement, and a strong community connection while maintaining ties to their former home and longtime friends in Ramat Ef'al.
