Jewish Doctor Fired in Sweden After Reporting Antisemitic Abuse by Colleague

A significant controversy has erupted in Sweden following the dismissal of Dr. Gregory Zvi Wershbesky, a 69-year-old Jewish physician, from the private medical company Meliva near Stockholm. The firing came shortly after Dr. Wershbesky reported an antisemitic verbal attack by a fellow doctor. The incident occurred last year during the Israel-Hamas conflict but was only recently revealed by Dr. Wershbesky.

According to reports, while on a break at the medical center's café, a colleague of Middle Eastern descent asked Dr. Wershbesky if he was Jewish. After he confirmed, she accused him of "killing Palestinian children" and shouted antisemitic insults in front of other staff. Dr. Wershbesky attempted to calm the situation, explaining he was Jewish but not Israeli and had no military ties. Despite filing an official complaint with management, he was shocked to learn that his employment contract would not be renewed, effectively terminating his position.
