Passenger Nearly Sucked Out of Ryanair Plane Window During Flight from Greece to Germany

A Ryanair flight from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Memmingen, Germany, experienced a rare and dangerous incident shortly after takeoff on July 10, when a passenger window detached, causing a sudden cabin pressure drop. Passenger Ljubica Kravic was nearly sucked out of the aircraft, with part of his body protruding through the broken window up to his shoulders. Fellow passengers, including his wife Svetlana, quickly reacted to pull him back inside, preventing a fatal accident.

Eyewitnesses reported chaos as oxygen masks deployed and a strong smell filled the cabin. Kravic remained secured by his seatbelt, which likely saved his life. He suffered injuries including a neck wound and other bruises, and lost consciousness multiple times due to shock and oxygen deprivation at high altitude. The plane returned to Thessaloniki airport within about 20 minutes, where Kravic was hospitalized in stable condition but in shock.

Initial investigations suggest that debris from the aircraft's engine struck and broke the window, though the exact cause remains under review. Videos shared on social media showed the damaged window and aircraft exterior after the emergency landing. Ryanair confirmed the flight's return to Thessaloniki and stated that passengers disembarked normally after the incident.
