Haredi Woman Expelled Over Muslim Relationship Completes Master's in Education Management

A young woman from a Haredi community in central Israel, known by the pseudonym Avigail, was expelled from a seminary several years ago after it was discovered she had a relationship with a Muslim man. The relationship came to light when she confided in a teacher, who reported it to the seminary administration, leading to her removal from the educational institution. This expulsion left Avigail without a study framework and intensified family tensions, causing her to feel profound loneliness.

Following her family's discovery of the relationship, they contacted the organization Yad L'Achim, which began a long-term support and rehabilitation process to help her sever ties and rebuild her life. Initially, Avigail struggled with trust issues, low self-esteem, and complex family circumstances previously unknown to her community. Through the organization's assistance, she enrolled in an alternative educational framework and found work in a children's after-school program, where she discovered her passion for education.

Avigail subsequently completed a bachelor's degree in teaching and recently earned a master's degree in education management. In a message to the social worker who supported her, she expressed gratitude, saying, "Everyone abandoned me, but you believed in me." Yad L'Achim emphasized that her story highlights the importance of sustained personal support, demonstrating that even seemingly hopeless situations can be transformed through trust, persistence, and encouragement.
