Former Manufacturers' Association Head Shraga Brosh Released Early, Sentence Converted to Community Service

Israeli President Isaac Herzog approved a pardon request for Shraga Brosh, the former chairman of the Manufacturers' Association, leading to his early release from prison. Brosh had been serving a one-year sentence but was freed after serving only a month and a half. The decision, made with the consent of the Pardons Department at the Ministry of Justice, converted the remainder of his prison term into community service.

Brosh was convicted of multiple offenses including tax evasion, document forgery, and aggravated fraud related to evading payment of 1.5 million shekels in taxes. Initially sentenced to 14 months imprisonment by the Magistrate's Court, his sentence was later reduced to 12 months on appeal. Upon entering prison, his lawyer submitted a pardon request to President Herzog, which was granted.

The President's office clarified that although Herzog and Brosh were previously acquainted as public figures, they had no personal or social ties. The legal advisors at the President's residence determined this did not disqualify Herzog from considering the pardon request.
