Bnei Brak Unveils New Street Names Honoring Leading Rabbis in Ayelet HaShachar Neighborhood

The Bnei Brak Municipality's Naming Committee, chaired by Eliyahu Shoshan, announced the official street names for the new residential area known as Ayelet HaShachar, named after Rabbi Aharon Leib Shteinman. The committee revealed that streets will honor prominent rabbis including Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, Rabbi Shmuel Halevi Wosner, Rabbi Shimon Baadani, and Rabbi Shmaryahu Nissim Karelitz.

Key streets include "Chut Sheni" after Rabbi Karelitz, "Chazon Ovadia" after Rabbi Yosef, and "Shevet Halevi" after Rabbi Wosner. The connecting street between Shevet Halevi and Chazon Ovadia will be named after Rabbi Shimon Baadani. Additionally, the Tzvi Harling Bridge will be renamed "Rabbi Landa Bridge" in memory of Rabbi Moshe Yehuda Leib Landa, a former city rabbi.

Residents and family members of the honored rabbis have 30 days to submit objections or comments to the committee. The municipality plans to invite families of the rabbis for participation in the naming process. However, some local residents have expressed concerns that several other leading rabbis and yeshiva heads were not included in the current list of honorees.

The municipality also issued a warning to drivers about potential confusion in navigation apps like Waze and Google Maps, as multiple locations in Bnei Brak share similar names. For example, the new "Rabbi Landa Bridge" name may be confused with streets named after Rabbi Yaakov Landa and Chaim Landau, requiring drivers to carefully verify their destinations to avoid navigation errors in the densely populated city.
