Bnei Brak Municipality Leaders Tour Growing 'Supermarket Complex' Haredi Neighborhood
The 'Supermarket Complex' neighborhood in Bnei Brak has rapidly developed into a sought-after area with approximately 5,000 residents enjoying high living standards, modern infrastructure, and careful environmental planning. Initially, there were concerns about its suitability for the Haredi lifestyle, but the community has since flourished, establishing synagogues, study halls, and a Talmud Torah, with plans for additional educational institutions underway.
To support this growth, members of the Agudat Yisrael faction in Bnei Brak's city council, led by Mayor Chanoch Zeibert and Deputy Mayor Yehoshua Mendel, conducted an in-depth tour of the neighborhood. They were joined by deputy mayors Yosef Yitzchak Yakubovich and Aharon Elboim, council members Simcha Stitzberg and Shlomo Feder, and city CEO Israel Eisenstein. The delegation visited key community institutions, including the central study hall led by Rabbi Yechezkel Drabermadiker and Rabbi Israel Pesach Hirschler, who highlighted the vibrant spiritual life and communal charity fund.
The group also toured the large mikveh and the local beit din, and visited the residence and study hall of the Mielon Rebbe, who blessed the officials and praised their support for the community's expansion. Further visits included the Degel Chassidim study hall, the Belz Hasidic synagogue, and the general Haredi Talmud Torah, which has doubled its student body since opening two years ago. They also inspected the Yiddish kindergartens operated by Pethachia and discussed plans to add daycare centers to accommodate new residents.
The tour concluded with a joint meeting at the home of Aryeh Pomerantz, deputy CEO of the Economic Company responsible for the neighborhood's development. Mayor Zeibert emphasized the municipality's significant investment and vision to make the area a leading neighborhood. Deputy Mayor Mendel cited the rapid growth of Torah and educational institutions as proof of success, while other officials stressed the importance of unity and direct engagement with the community. City CEO Eisenstein assured that coordinated municipal efforts alongside the Economic Company will ensure the neighborhood's vision becomes a high-quality daily reality for residents.
