Mother of Yotam Hayim Condemns Workers Using Late Son’s Room as Toilet in Kibbutz

Iris Hayim, mother of Yotam Hayim who was kidnapped and accidentally killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, revealed that workers employed in Kibbutz Kfar Aza have been using her late son's bedroom as a public toilet. She shared this distressing information on social media on the 1,000th day since the outbreak of the war, expressing her outrage and sorrow over the desecration of Yotam’s room. The workers, hired by a contracting company in the "Young Generation" neighborhood of the kibbutz, reportedly chose to relieve themselves in Yotam’s room instead of using proper facilities. Despite the kibbutz management installing security cameras, the issue persists, prompting Iris to call on the public for assistance in resolving the matter.

Yotam Hayim, a 28-year-old musician and drummer, was kidnapped from his home in Kfar Aza on October 7, 2023, during the initial attacks of the war. Before losing contact, he reported that his home was being set on fire and that he was suffocating. In December, during fighting in Shuja'iyya, Yotam escaped captivity along with fellow hostages Alon Shmeriz and Samer Talalka but was mistakenly identified as a threat and fatally shot by Israeli forces.

Following the tragedy, Iris Hayim gained public attention for her compassionate message to the soldiers involved, expressing love and forgiveness rather than anger. Recently, a family court in Be’er Sheva approved the family’s request to have a child using Yotam’s sperm, honoring his dream of starting a family and continuing his legacy.
