Green Lantern Acquires Biscotti Bakery Chain for 500 Million Shekels

Green Lantern, the investment fund led by businessman Richie Hunter, has received approval from the Israeli Antitrust Authority to acquire Biscotti, a bakery chain, for approximately 500 million shekels. This acquisition expands Green Lantern's diverse food portfolio, which has surpassed a valuation of 1.7 billion shekels following aggressive purchases in the food sector over the past two years. The approval was granted on Thursday.

Biscotti, founded in 2003 by Amir Porat and pastry chef Rusella Yona, operates nine branches primarily in central Israel, the Sharon region, and the Shephelah. The chain also runs an online store and offers catering services, including pastry platters. Biscotti products are available through delivery platform Wolt Market.

Green Lantern's portfolio includes full ownership of food producer Tapogen and Feldman Ice Cream, majority stakes in Hollandia Furniture and Marina Mushrooms, minority shares in GAD dairies and Cellcom, and a 50% stake in the "Gan Sipur" café and restaurant chain acquired in February for about 150 million shekels. The food sector has seen renewed growth recently, prompting investment funds to increase holdings in bakeries, restaurants, and food companies. The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange has even launched a new "TA-Food" index reflecting this trend.

The Biscotti deal, reported initially by Globes in October 2025, will be executed alongside Green Lantern's partners. This acquisition is considered significant within the thriving Israeli food market, highlighting the fund's strategic expansion and confidence in the sector's potential.
