Kimi Antonelli Leads from Start to Finish in Monaco GP

The story · English

On Sunday, the Monaco Grand Prix was held, considered one of the most prestigious races in the Formula 1 calendar. As in many previous races on the streets of the principality, spectators were treated once again to drama, mishaps and reversals that affected the championship picture. The race got underway, and right at the start world champion Max Verstappen suffered a major blow when he was forced to retire because of a technical fault in his car. Several laps later, Red Bull’s second driver, Isaac Adjar, also complained of car problems, but unlike his teammate he managed to continue and finish the race. For Red Bull, this is another worrying sign in an unstable season, as the issue of the car’s reliability continues to shadow the team.

Later in the race, Lewis Hamilton received a five-second penalty after an illegal acceleration on the exit from the pit stop. Several laps later, George Russell was also given the same penalty. While Hamilton managed to overcome the penalty and hold his place near the front, Russell ran into trouble after failing to serve the penalty properly during his stop and was forced into the pits again, which significantly hurt his race.

On lap 45, there was another drama when Lando Norris was forced to retire because of a battery system failure. It was another disappointment for the McLaren driver, who continues to endure a difficult season, while the team itself struggles to keep pace with the leaders.

The drama continued into the later stages of the race. On lap 66, while the safety car was on track, Charles Leclerc lost control, hit the wall and was forced to retire from third place. Two laps later, a red flag was raised because of disruptions on the track, and the race was briefly stopped. After the restart, Kimi Antonelli managed to keep the lead and gave his rivals no chance to rejoin the fight.

At the finish, Kimi recorded his fifth straight victory, after starting from pole position and leading safely to the checkered flag. Lewis Hamilton finished second and Isaac Adjar completed the podium in third place. Following the results, Hamilton moved up to second in the drivers’ standings at the expense of George Russell, who finished only 14th, while Kimi’s lead at the top of the table grew to 56 points and appears more significant than ever at this stage of the season.
