Israeli Man Charged for Selling Guns via WhatsApp in Negev Town
The Israeli prosecution filed charges on Wednesday against a resident of Tel Sheva for two counts of illegal weapons possession. The suspect was caught after police investigations revealed he recorded himself holding various firearms and loaded magazines on the WhatsApp messaging app, where he also offered the guns for sale and arranged transfers to buyers. The probe began following intelligence information, with digital evidence collected by the Arara police station during March and May 2026 confirming the suspect’s actions.
In addition to the self-recorded videos, the suspect engaged in WhatsApp conversations with potential buyers, further linking him to the illegal sales. The evidence gathered enabled authorities to connect him to two separate incidents of carrying unlicensed weapons. After the police completed their investigation, the case was handed over to the prosecution, which formally submitted the indictment to the district court.
Arara police investigation and intelligence officer Chief Inspector Hananel Sklar emphasized the importance of precise evidence collection in uncovering crimes committed via digital platforms. He stated, "Any illegal weapon poses a real threat to human life, and we will continue to act decisively to identify those involved, remove them from the streets, and ensure they face the full severity of the law."
