Plastic surgeries among teenagers in Israel have surged by 56% during the summer of 2026, marking a new peak in demand. This increase coincides with the summer vacation period, which many teens use to undergo aesthetic procedures before the new school year. Popular surgeries include rhinoplasty, ear pinning, and breast surgeries. Experts attribute this rise partly to the influence of social media, filters, and unrealistic beauty ideals shaping teens' body image.

The Israeli Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons emphasizes that decisions to undergo surgery must be made with emotional maturity and thorough consideration, not due to social pressure or fleeting trends. Dr. Meir Cohen, the association's chairman, warns against basing decisions on distorted selfies, recommending evaluation through regular photos or in-person assessments.

Medical guidelines suggest age recommendations for various procedures: rhinoplasty typically from age 17 after nasal development, ear pinning from age 6 if social distress exists, gynecomastia surgery from age 16, and breast surgeries for girls only after age 18 or preferably 21. The association stresses that plastic surgery during adolescence is a medical procedure with physical and psychological implications, requiring full parental involvement, realistic expectations, and comprehensive understanding of the surgery and recovery process.
