Israeli Police Use Drone to Enforce Traffic Laws and Seize Counterfeit Goods in West Bank Operation
On Monday night, police from the Beqaa Station, together with traffic officers from the Gilad region, the Ministry of Transport's safety vehicle, IDF forces, and the Federation, conducted a comprehensive enforcement operation in the West Bank area. The operation focused on traffic violations, vehicle roadworthiness checks, and combating the sale of counterfeit brands and goods.
Traffic officers and vehicle inspectors from the Ministry of Transport examined dozens of vehicles, resulting in 14 vehicles, including a motorcycle with illegal modifications, being removed from the roads. Additionally, 19 traffic tickets were issued for various violations such as vehicle defects and illegal overtaking, with enforcement aided by live drone footage.
Following hearings by police officers, six drivers had their licenses revoked and their vehicles impounded due to serious traffic offenses. On the economic enforcement front, in cooperation with the Federation, authorities raided the Palestinian village of Ouja, confiscating counterfeit cigarettes valued at approximately 15,000 shekels and hundreds of fake Ray-Ban sunglasses worth about 10,000 shekels. Businesses and owners involved face administrative fines of around 100,000 shekels each for possession, sale, and distribution of counterfeit goods.
This joint operation highlights the coordinated efforts of the Beqaa police station and other enforcement bodies to improve road safety and crack down on economic crimes in the region.
