The story · English

MK Yoav Ben-Tzur of the Shas party strongly criticized the police's violent actions against ultra-Orthodox demonstrators during an interview on Kikar HaShabbat. He described the brutality as reminiscent of "very dark days from the past," comparing it to how Jews were treated in Europe and the United States, and expressed disbelief that such acts could occur in Israel. Ben-Tzur questioned the source of the cruelty, condemning officers who kicked a protester lying on the ground and tore his pants. He appealed directly to the police, many of whom share his community background, asking how such hatred toward Torah scholars could arise. Ben-Tzur concluded by hoping that those responsible for the violence would be held accountable.
