Customer Claims to Find Toenail in Frozen Soybeans from Rami Levy Amid Product Recall

A customer of the Israeli supermarket chain Rami Levy posted on social media platform X on June 29, 2026, claiming she found a toenail inside a box of frozen soybeans she purchased from the store. The woman described how she was eating a salad she prepared at home, which included cucumber, tomato, bean noodles, and microwaved frozen soybeans, when she suddenly felt something hard in her mouth. Initially suspecting an uncooked noodle, she later identified the object as a toenail from a big toe embedded in the frozen soybeans. She emphasized that the noodles were soft and hand-squeezed to remove water, confirming the hard object was not from them but from the soybeans.

Rami Levy responded by stating the customer had not contacted their customer service, so the company was unaware of the complaint. The supermarket chain reiterated its commitment to providing quality products to customers. This incident comes shortly after a recall was issued for cheese-filled bourekas sold under the Rami Levy brand by manufacturer Yinon, due to suspected metal foreign objects. The Ministry of Health advised the public not to consume the product and the company is retrieving packages from stores.

This is not the first quality concern involving Rami Levy products. In July 2025, a customer named Daniel reported finding a worm crawling on fresh chicken breast purchased at a Rami Levy branch in Petah Tikva. He described the experience as "disgusting and stressful," returned the product, and received a refund. The recent toenail claim adds to ongoing scrutiny of the supermarket chain's product safety.

The Ministry of Health and Rami Levy have not announced further investigations related to the toenail claim. The customer’s post included a photo of the foreign object, but no formal complaint has been filed with the retailer as of the report's publication.
