Cornerstone Laid for New Spacious Talmud Torah Building in Ramat Beit Shemesh
A significant cornerstone laying ceremony took place for the new and spacious building of the Talmud Torah 'Vezot LeYehuda' in Ramat Beit Shemesh G, attended by city rabbis, public officials, school leadership, educators, parents, and students. The event opened with remarks from the Talmud Torah director, Rabbi Yitzchak Shtub, who outlined the vision of creating a sacred educational environment dedicated to inspiring students to bring satisfaction to God. He praised the mayor for his dedicated support of the school and its construction efforts and warmly thanked Rabbi Yosef Grama, head of the institutions, for his 30 years of tireless work managing and advancing the network of Talmud Torah schools in Beit Shemesh and Kiryat Ye'arim-Telzstone.
Mayor Shmuel Greenberg expressed heartfelt emotions recalling his long-standing relationship with the Talmud Torah and its leaders, emphasizing his strong desire to see the building completed and ready for the upcoming school year. He highlighted the substantial investment and personal oversight he has committed to ensure a large, comfortable facility befitting the children of Israel. The event reached a poignant moment with the stirring words of the esteemed supervisor Rabbi Binyamin Finkel, who stressed the critical importance of educating children through close cooperation with devoted teachers, calling this partnership the true cornerstone for each student's growth as a Torah scholar. He concluded with an emotional recitation of Psalms praying for the success of the school and its students.
Following the speeches, participants proceeded to the ceremonial laying of the cornerstone. Rabbi Grama honored the city rabbis with the cement pouring, followed by the mayor and city council members, who joined in prayer that the construction would proceed well and that the voice of Torah would resonate within the new building for many years. The ceremony concluded with joyous dancing by parents, students, educators, and teachers celebrating the honor of Torah and the bright future of the school.
