No Limit on Passenger Numbers, Ben Gurion Airport to Keep Operating as Usual Despite Situation

At the end of a special situation assessment held by Transportation Minister Miri Regev, with the participation of representatives from her ministry, the Israel Airports Authority, the Home Front Command and security officials, it was decided that Israel’s airspace would not be closed. The summary of the discussions determined that Ben Gurion Airport would continue operating as usual, with no changes to activity levels or restrictions on the number of passengers at this stage. Aircraft traffic in the country’s skies will be conducted in accordance with Home Front Command instructions and the situation assessment on the ground. If necessary, targeted adjustments will be made to schedules as a result of security developments, but for now no unusual steps have been decided that would affect the airport’s routine operations.

During the lengthy discussions held today, the possibility was raised of limiting the number of passengers present simultaneously at the airport. After examining all considerations, it was decided not to take this step and to continue in full operation. The decision reflects an effort to preserve air traffic continuity as much as possible, unlike previous rounds of fighting in which broader restrictions were imposed. As of now, Ben Gurion Airport is operating normally and the flight schedule is running as usual, with no restrictions at all. However, it should be noted that the situation is dynamic. Another situation assessment is expected to take place in the evening, during which the security developments and their implications for aircraft traffic will be reviewed again, and the decisions may be updated accordingly.
