Jerusalem Forces Raid Shuafat, Destroy Illegal Fuel Stations and Seize Drugs

Dozens of Border Police officers from the Jerusalem perimeter, together with Yasam units from the national police tactical division and Jerusalem municipality teams, carried out a broad enforcement operation on Tuesday morning in Shuafat camp in East Jerusalem. The operation was aimed at strengthening law enforcement and governance in the area and focused on illegal construction, traffic offenses, sanitation hazards, and the seizure of drugs and ammunition.

At the start of the raid, officers targeted sites operating as illegal fuel stations. Fuel was pumped out of the tanks and two unauthorized stations were completely destroyed. The teams also dealt with 128 demolition targets that had been built or placed illegally and posed a public safety risk, including construction violations, temporary structures, advertising signs, and unlicensed commercial stalls.

As part of the traffic enforcement effort, police issued 58 tickets for various traffic violations. A separate sanitation enforcement operation led to 39 additional fines for disorder, cleanliness violations, and public nuisance conditions.

Later that night, Border Police and Jerusalem District officers searched additional locations in Shuafat as part of Operation Shield the Capital Border. During those searches, they seized suspected dangerous drugs, including hashish, cannabis, ecstasy, crystal, heroin, and other substances, along with dozens of pills, an electronic scale, and eight 9 mm pistol rounds. All seized items were transferred to the Shafat police station for further investigation.
