Israeli Police Find Five Illegal Workers at Shuafat Construction Site, Shut It Down

Israeli police and Border Police forces discovered five illegal workers employed at a construction site in the Shuafat neighborhood of East Jerusalem on Monday. The workers were detained, interrogated, and subsequently deported to the West Bank. The operation was conducted by officers from the Shafat police station and Jerusalem Border Police as part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal residency, which authorities say could facilitate hostile activities and threaten civilian security.

Following the discovery, Jerusalem District Commander Commissioner Avshalom Peled issued an administrative closure order for the construction site. The site will remain closed until August 18, 2026, under the terms of this order. The police emphasized that the crackdown aims to prevent illegal employment and residency that may undermine public safety in the region.
