Schooling Canceled Nationwide as Ben Gurion Airport Restrictions Are Considered: All the Instructions

Following the renewed fire from Iran, the Home Front Command announced yesterday a change in public instructions and a move to limited activity across the country, from Sunday, June 7, at 10:00 p.m. until today, Monday, at 8:00 p.m. Under the new directives, all educational activities are prohibited, but gatherings of up to 200 people in open areas and up to 500 people indoors will be allowed, provided that a standard protected space can be reached in time during an alert. It will also be possible to go to workplaces from which a standard protected space can be reached in time, and the beaches will remain closed to the public.

Educational activities, which will not take place, include formal activity, day-care centers, kindergartens and family day-care homes, elementary and secondary schools, after-school programs, special education, competitive sports activity within sports associations and unions for children and youth up to age 18, and higher education, training and vocational studies. Informal educational activity, such as clubs, youth movements, camps, and trips, will also be suspended for those up to age 18, as well as preparatory programs before military service.

Workplaces: guidelines for operating workplaces, businesses and commerce, including public reception, and competitive sports activity within sports associations and unions for adults over 18.

Gatherings and services: guidelines for gatherings of people present at the same time in a specific area, including public venues such as shopping centers, entertainment shows, weddings, synagogues and cultural activities. Popular sports activities, gyms and studio rooms for adults over 18, and restrictions on services available to citizens.

Meanwhile, yesterday Justice Minister Yariv Levin signed a special state of emergency for the courts and enforcement offices. In addition, at the end of last night’s situation assessment and following the new directives, the Kerem Shalom crossing was closed today to the passage of goods into the Gaza Strip. At the same time, the Home Front Command demanded tightening the restrictions at Ben Gurion Airport because of the situation, and imposing a gathering limit of up to 2,500 people. If the demand is approved, the number of flights per hour will be reduced, but the airspace is expected to remain open. For now, discussions on the matter are still underway.
