Home Front Command orders suspension of schools nationwide as restrictions on Ben Gurion Airport are discussed
Due to the renewed firing from Iran, the Home Front Command announced this evening, Sunday, a change in guidelines for the public and a move to restricted activity across the country. The IDF said the public should continue to stay near protected spaces throughout Israel. Starting tomorrow and until further notice, the Home Front Command ordered the following measures nationwide: no educational activities may be held, including matriculation exams. Gatherings are permitted for up to 200 people in open areas, and up to 500 indoors, provided there is access to a standard protected space during the alert.
Workplaces may operate if people can reach a standard protected space during the alert. The new defense policy took effect this evening at 22:00 and will remain in force until further notice, subject to Home Front Command instructions. Meanwhile, the Home Front Command called for tighter restrictions on Ben Gurion Airport because of the situation, including a limit on gatherings of up to 2,500 people. If the request is approved, the number of flights per hour will be reduced, but the airspace is expected to remain open. For now, discussions on the matter are still underway.
The firing from Iran resumed this evening, for the first time since the ceasefire began, after threats from Tehran that it would respond to the Israeli strike in the Dahieh district of Beirut, Lebanon. Prime Minister Netanyahu held a limited security meeting amid Tehran's threats. The situation assessment on the issue was set after the public threats by Qalibaf.
