Charles to Meet Harry’s Children in U.K. Visit, While Meghan Is Left Out

In a few weeks, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to arrive in Britain with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for a milestone tied to the countdown to the Birmingham Invictus Games 2027. Ahead of the trip, British tabloids have been trying to determine what shape the visit will take, whether King Charles will see his grandchildren, and what role Markle will have, after she has become deeply unpopular with much of the royal family.

According to the report, Harry and Charles have reached an agreement under which the king will meet Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, together with their father. The last time Charles saw them was in 2022, when the Sussexes visited as a family for the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. Markle, however, is not currently included in the family reunion. A source said Charles is “very excited” about meeting the two grandchildren, whose last visit to Britain was four years ago, and repeated that he had “extended an olive branch” by inviting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to stay at one of the royal residences during the trip.

The king has reportedly already arranged security for Harry’s family, although the exact measures are still unclear. Prince William has so far ignored the planned visit, and so has his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales.

The article also notes that on Father’s Day, Markle posted a photo of Harry hugging the children, with the caption, “They are lucky to have you, we are all lucky.” She disabled comments on the post. By contrast, Catherine posted a Father’s Day image of William with their daughter Princess Charlotte, writing, “Happy birthday and Happy Father’s Day to the best dad in the world. We love you,” and left comments open, drawing thousands of supportive responses.
