Argentine President Javier Milei Celebrates with Jewish Community in New York

Argentine President Javier Milei arrived in New York ahead of his scheduled address at the United Nations General Assembly. Early Wednesday morning, he met with members of the city's Jewish community, where he received the "Love of Israel Award" in recognition of his leadership in defending the Jewish people. During the event, Milei was filmed joyfully singing and dancing with the attendees.

Milei's speech at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly is expected to focus on artificial intelligence and economic growth, Argentina's sovereignty claims over the Falkland Islands (Malvinas Islands), and criticism of the UN's alleged interference in domestic policies.

The president, a known supporter of Israel, previously lit a torch at Israel's Independence Day ceremony on Mount Herzl. At the New York gathering, he spontaneously took the microphone and sang "Libre" by Nino Bravo, a song associated with him and the concept of freedom. He then enthusiastically danced with Rabbi Avraham Zerbib, soldiers, and others on stage, to the surprise and applause of the audience. He concluded by exclaiming "Am Yisrael Chai!" (The people of Israel live!) in Hebrew.

During the event, Milei also declared his intention to move Argentina's embassy to Jerusalem, stating "as soon as the politicians allow it." He emphasized that he views Jerusalem as the "spiritual capital of the nation" and highlighted that the relationship between Argentina and Israel is founded on shared moral values, not just occasional interests.
