יושב ראש ועדת הבחירות המרכזית, השופט נעם סולברג, דחה את בקשתו של יושב ראש מפלגת בל״ד, סמי אבו שחאדה, לדחות את הדיון בעניינו. הדיון עוסק בפסילתו האפשרית של אבו שחאדה מלהתמודד בבחירות לכנסת. למרות הדחייה, סולברג אישר לאבו שחאדה להשתתף בדיון ולהשמיע את טיעוניו באמצעות שיחת וידאו (זום).

ההחלטה התקבלה על רקע עמדתה של היועצת המשפטית לממשלה ופרקליט המדינה, אשר המליצו לוועדת הבחירות לשקול בכובד ראש את פסילת מועמדותו של אבו שחאדה. זאת, בשל תמיכה לכאורה של אבו שחאדה במאבק נגד מדינת ישראל.
