Former MK Mossi Raz Returns to Politics and Joins The Democrats

Former lawmaker Mossi Raz announced on Sunday morning that he is formally returning to politics and will seek a spot on the candidate list of The Democrats, the alliance of Labor and Meretz, in the next election. Raz wrote on social media that he will submit his candidacy for the Knesset this week.

Explaining his decision, Raz said, "I have spent my entire life leading the struggle for peace and against the occupation." He added that in the next Knesset, "we must fix as much as possible, as quickly as possible."

Raz also tried to remind voters of his record in public life, noting that although many people think he served in the Knesset for far longer, he was a member for only six years in total. He said that the watchdog group Shakuf had named him the hardest-working MK, and that he had finished first in Meretz primaries.

Raz concluded that the next government will face major repair work and said his experience would be an important asset. "In the next Knesset we must fix what was destroyed as quickly as possible, so we need ideological commitment combined with proven experience," he said.
