The race for seats on the joint left-wing slate intensified on Monday when former Knesset member Emily Moatti announced that she will run in the primaries of Yair Golan's Democrats party, with the aim of returning to the alliance's Knesset ticket.
Moatti previously served as a Knesset member for Labor, where she was deputy speaker and a regular member of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. Her move adds another prominent former lawmaker to the party as it prepares for its internal selection process.
The announcement came less than a day after another notable return to politics. On Sunday, former Knesset member Mossi Raz, one of the best-known figures in Meretz, said he too would reenter political life and compete in the upcoming primaries for a spot on the joint list.
