תושבי בני ברק מקיימים את מנהג הכפרות לקראת יום הכיפורים, כמדי שנה. המנהג, הכולל סיבוב תרנגולת מעל הראש, נועד לכפר על עוונותיו של האדם. התרנגולת לאחר מכן נשחטת ונמסרת לצדקה.

המנהג נערך בימים שלפני יום הכיפורים, והוא נפוץ בעיקר בקרב הציבור החרדי. רבים מהתושבים רואים במנהג חלק בלתי נפרד מההכנה הרוחנית לקראת היום הקדוש.

השנה, כמו בשנים קודמות, ניתן לראות סוחרים המוכרים תרנגולות ברחובות העיר, לקראת ביצוע המצווה. המנהג מעורר דיונים הלכתיים ומוסריים מדי שנה, אך נותר פופולרי בקרב קהילות רבות.
