FIFA Bans Russian Club Sochi from Transfers Over Unpaid Debt to Maccabi Tel Aviv
FIFA has imposed a severe transfer ban on Russian club Sochi due to an outstanding debt owed to Maccabi Tel Aviv. The ban, effective September 9, prohibits Sochi from registering new players for three consecutive transfer windows.
The penalty stems from delayed payments related to the transfer of defender Nemanja Stošić, who moved from Maccabi Tel Aviv to Sochi in early September 2025. The transfer fee was reportedly around 1.2 million euros, and Sochi failed to meet its financial obligations to the Israeli club.
Stošić signed a three-year contract with Sochi, and has played seven matches for the club this season. Sochi is currently third in the Russian league standings. The transfer ban represents a significant blow to the club's professional plans.
