The story · English

An unusual incident was recorded today, Tuesday, in the corridors of the Knesset, when MK Moshe Gafni of United Torah Judaism made a blunt and demeaning remark toward Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara.

The incident took place in front of those present in the building, after the Knesset Guard opened a side exit for Baharav-Miara, which is usually blocked, in order to shorten her route and prevent her from passing through the main corridors. In response, MK Yitzhak Pindrus shouted, "Who gave her permission to leave from there?" Gafni, who was present at the scene, replied to Pindrus, saying, "Be thankful, earlier they took her through my office. Don't worry, we washed after her."

In addition to Gafni and Pindrus, MK Tally Gotliv also lashed out at the attorney general in harsh words during a hearing held earlier in the Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, which dealt with Gotliv's request for immunity from criminal prosecution in the case involving the exposure of a Shin Bet agent. "You are persecuting us. You are behaving like a criminal organization. You have destroyed the Attorney General's Office with heavy-handedness and hard-heartedness," Gotliv told Baharav-Miara, who was present at the hearing. "You acted with a clear purpose after the October 7 massacre, to cripple the right-wing government and whitewash the top leadership of the Shin Bet."

Last week, Minister Dudi Amsalem also attacked the attorney general in the Knesset plenum, against the backdrop of the new sanctions on ultra-Orthodox draft evaders, and said, "There is a score to settle. You and Gil Limon, the deputy attorney general, have a special place in hell."
