US House Passes Bill to Defund Universities Boycotting Israel

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill that would cut federal funding for universities and colleges engaging in boycotts against Israel. The legislation, which garnered bipartisan support with 237 votes in favor and 169 against, aims to penalize academic and economic boycotts targeting the Jewish state. The bill's passage followed its approval by the House Committee on Education.

This initiative now moves to the Senate for further consideration and potential approval. Proponents of the bill argue that it sends a clear message against antisemitic campaigns and boycotts within civil society. Republican Virginia Foxx, chair of the education committee, stated that the bipartisan nature of the bill underscores its importance in combating such movements.
