US Carrier Abraham Lincoln Ends Long Middle East Deployment in Thailand

מאת Алекс Липницкий

The story · English

The U.S. aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln arrived in the port of Laem Chabang on Thailand's eastern coast on Wednesday, concluding an extended and demanding mission in the Middle East. The carrier had been engaged in operations related to Iran and spent over 250 consecutive days at sea, marking one of its longest deployments. This extended period at sea reportedly led to significant challenges for the approximately 5,000 crew members, including reports of psychological strain and shortages of essential supplies like food and hygiene products. The ship's arrival in Thailand provided the crew with a much-needed opportunity to rest. The Abraham Lincoln was accompanied by the destroyer USS Frank E. Petersen Jr., which also docked in the region. According to the U.S. Embassy, other vessels from the carrier strike group also made port calls: the USS Robert Smalls docked in Map Ta Phut, while the USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. docked in Si Racha. This was the Abraham Lincoln's first substantial port visit in more than nine months, having departed on its long deployment in 2025. During combat operations, the carrier functions as a self-contained city, and its crew adheres to strict blackout procedures at night to minimize radar detection.
