Israel Revokes Security Firm Licenses Over Extortion Scheme

Israel's Ministry of Justice has revoked the licenses of two security companies, "HaKesefet Manpower Security and Cleaning Services Ltd." and "Egoz Security and Cleaning Services Ltd.," citing public safety concerns. The decision followed an administrative hearing and review of evidence presented by law enforcement, intelligence agencies, the State Attorney's Office's civil enforcement unit, and the Israel Police.

An investigation revealed that clients of these firms were compelled to pay for security services under threat of damage, despite no actual security being provided. These payments were effectively a "tax" extorted by criminal figures, referred to as "Raisim" (bosses).

The Ministry of Justice emphasized that this action is part of a broader crackdown on security companies involved in protection rackets, which have become a significant national problem. The revocation aims to combat the growing issue of extortion through security service fronts.
